Call Screening

Some of the people I know who make the most money don't have caller waiting, I find this fascinating that despite their salaries ad their positions they still don't find caller ID necessary, but then again, maybe that is because they can pay their bills and don't dred the phone ringing because it is another debt collector.

TO me, Caller ID is a life saving feature because it warns me before I pick up the phone and say "hello" who is calling, before caller ID we would have to rely on the answering machine to pick up all the calls or we would just have to suck it up and actually tell the debt collectors off over the phone--I prefer to just let them talk to my answering machine.

When I lived with my sister at the age of 12, right around the time they came out with caller ID, I remember she would have me screen all the calls, I remember if they couldn't pronounce the names I was tell them that person no longer resided at that number or that I had no clue who that person was, if they were to ask for my father or mother I would say they weren't there and I had no idea if they would return (which wasn't a lie) and if the person knew the name I would always ask to take a message, if it turned out to be a friend I would gladly hand the phone over to my sister or her husband--they were rather impressed with how quickly I took to phone screening and I always swore I would never do that again, because I hated lying to people, and so now I don't have to break my promise to myself, thanks to my favorite telephone accessory, caller ID.

SO what did your siblings teach you when you were younger?
